Good evening, As we prepare for the break, we wanted to send a notice regarding a situation at WLVMS that resulted in the district collaborating with the LVPD, SMCS, NMSP, and the DA to ensure student safety. Out of an abundance of caution; we ask that you remind your children that any threats will be investigated and dealt with accordingly. Threats can be made in many ways and include suggestive words or images. Parents, please encourage your children to report suspicious activity. The district is considering ordering clear backpacks and conducting additional drills to protect everyone in the event of an emergency. These considerations may happen as soon as January. We appreciate the support and receptiveness to our ideas. Wishing you a safe and wonderful holiday season. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Good Evening, Students and Families: We hope you all had a wonderful day. We want to remind you that our semester exams start tomorrow. Students must be well prepared to do their best. Please make sure students charge Chromebooks fully tonight. Students are expected to arrive on time. Tardiness may result in your child having to take the exam during a makeup session. We understand mornings can be hectic, but we appreciate your assistance in helping our Dons and Lady Dons be prepared, less stressed, and ready to show their true potential.

The letter below is being forwarded. The letter is from our school nurse. This letter is to inform you of our procedure in regard to children who are sick. If your child is ill, keeping him/her home from school is often most appropriate. A child who is sick will not be able to perform well in school and is likely to spread the illness to other children and staff. Our school protocol states that you should not send your child to school if he/she has the following: ā€¢ Fever in the past 24 hours ā€¢ Vomiting in the past 24 hours ā€¢ Diarrhea in the past 24 hours ā€¢ Chills ā€¢ Sore throat ā€¢ Rash ā€¢ Strep Throat - must take an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school ā€¢ Bad cold (upper respiratory infection) with a very runny nose or bad cough especially if it has kept the child awake at night. ā€¢ Head lice - must be treated according to the nurse or doctor's instruction and are completely nit (egg) free, before returning to school ā€¢ Eye infection - must take an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school If your child becomes ill at school and the school nurse feels the child is too sick to benefit from school or is contagious to other children, you will be called to come and take him/her home from school. Thank you for being so cooperative. Also please do not send your child to school to have the nurse see him/her. In doing so you are sending a sick child into school and risking the whole classroom and teachers from becoming ill. If your child is sick please keep them home and have them seen by a provider who has the appropriate resources to help them. Respectfully, Joseph Vigil RN WLVS District Nurse (505)-426-2547 Office (505)-617-6777 School Cell

Good Afternoon Dons Families: Just a reminder that seniors should report at 5:30 PM in the library to start their Financial Aide Forms if they are interested in college or a vocational school. It is important to take care of this early. Before coming in you will need: CREATING YOUR FAFSA ACCOUNT 1. Go to StudentAid.gov. Make this unique from other usernames you have used in the past, but it's one you will remember. 3. Select a password. Again, this should be unique to the FAFSA website, secure, and not easily guessed by others. If you need inspiration for asecurepassword, use a password tool like that in Google Chrome or your securitysoftware for suggestions. Just be sure to write it down so you donŹ¼t forget. 4. Provide your personal information. Be sure not to use a school-affiliatedemail address when registering for your FSA ID. You may change schoolsorneed to access your information after school is finished, and havinganactiveemail address is important. 5. Answer the four challenge questions. These should be questions youcananswer easily, but that others wonŹ¼t guess. They will help you log intoyouraccount if you forget how to get in. 6. Verify your selected communication methods, including email, text, andauthenticator app. Follow any instructions on these notifications toensureyour FSA ID is ready. 7. Get and store your backup code, which will be a series of letters andnumbers.
