Hello West Las Vegas Families,
As we gear up for winter, it's essential to prepare our students for possible snow days. According to the New Mexico Public Education Department's guidelines, students must fulfill a set number of school hours and days each year. If a snow day is declared and in-person classes are canceled, we must make up for the lost instructional time. Therefore, the West Las Vegas district has decided that students will engage in on-lin learning during such occurrences. On these days, students will log into Google Classroom to complete assignments prepared by their teachers. Our main focus will be on English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. Each student will be provided with a school-issued Chromebook. Teachers will be available on Google Classroom from 8:00 to 12:00 to support students with their assignments. Additionally, Spanish class and Activities will post work in Google Classroom for students to complete. All work will need to be completed by 3:00 pm, in order to receive credit. This plan will be implemented only if weather conditions prevent us from attending school in person.
Thank you for your understanding and support during this unpredictable weather. Our priority is to keep our students safe by having them stay home when necessary.
